It’s been a great summer here at ThinkFresh Group. As usual, our team has been busy with building new and innovative ideas around human experience design and micro-retail around Toronto. A summary of our major highlights from summer 2016:
- Make Your Market: We launched! In collaboration with Social Enterprise Toronto and the Annex Flea, we created Toronto’s first-ever micro-retail resource and shopping site: Make Your Market. We’ve been featuring vendors, examining sales displays and collecting pop-up market information all in one place. Check us out and give us your feedback! makeyourmarket.ca
- Just because it’s a bus stop, does it have to be a bus stop? Teaming up with several folks from Civic Tech Toronto, we started looking at local bus stops as a big opportunity to think about human experience design. In late June, we did an intervention at a bus stop using milk creates to add some flair and sitting space to an otherwise utilitarian space. Did it work? Read our case study to find out!
- Public space ethnography: As a way to deepen our understanding of studying public spaces, we also started to examine some public spaces at OCADU. Over the month of August, we’ve been looking at different activities along McCaul Street and Butterfield Park. Still working on the results at the moment, but will post them as soon as we are able to.
As the fall approaches (so hard to believe that 2016 will be coming to a close soon!), we’ll be having a pretty action-packed season including a trip to Quito, Ecuador to attend the Habitat III conference in October, helping to co-ordinate YIMBY 2016 and we’ll be speaking about Human Experience Design at the Endless City FORMS Festival on September 30. We hope to see you out at at one of these awesome festivals!
